Today, we were lucky enough to get a chance to go to the Whipsnade Zoo. Even though we weren’t allowed to do a lot of the stuff like the playground it was still awesome!
First, we went to the enclosure where they were keeping the gorillas. They were all adults and were covered in black fur.
Next, we went over to the giraffes, they were extraordinarily tall. They were about 5 metres tall, I’m only 1.5m.
We then saw probably my favourite animals of our visit – Lemurs. They were all hanging on the different pieces of equipment and stared at us as we walked past which was cool.
We saw a few more animals including: tigers, rhinos and a bear.
The bear The rhinos And the tiger
Finally, we saw the elephants in Asia (animals are split into area’s which are named from the continents). There were five of them, I think two were babies/children and three were adults. There were two ways to see them: inside the enclosure or up on a hill facing the outside. My Dad wanted to look at them from inside so waited on a queue for us while we checked them from the outside. We read the little information pads and found out that about 20,000 elephants were killed in 2015 illegally for the ivory in their tusks.
So that was what we did today it was really fun seeing all of the animals and is a good way to use time with the family, hope you enjoyed it! 😀
